Uconn Sharp in Rout of Harvard

Uconn wasted no time imposing their will on Harvard, Harvard got a chance to see a 1st rate defensive team up close! Uconn raced to and early lead due to that suffocating defense and they never let up. Uconn has been said to only be a “1 man show” by many pundits out there, well the rest of the Huskies are beginning to take offense to that. This is the first game since beating Kentucky that I’ve seen the Huskies play the kind of defense that helped them win in Maui. Harvard came into this game as a pretty good 3 point shooting team, they were hitting threes at a 39% clip. Uconn made sure that didn’t happen by forcing Harvard into shooting 4 of 31 from downtown and held them to 30% from the field period!! The Huskies were led by Kemba Walker with 20 points and 4 assists, Kemba got a lot of help from his teammates. Alex Oriahki had 10 points and 9 rebounds, Jeremy Lamb had 11 points and 4 rebounds, and Tyler Olander had 7 points and 7 rebounds. Roscoe Smith is playing more of his natural position at small forward and he finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Enocsh Wolf had 3 points and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes playing time. Shabazz Napier was usual pesky self with 9 points, 6 assists, and 4 steals!! Uconn has some time off for the holidays, their next game is also their 1st Conference game!! Uconn travels to Pitt for Monday’s game, the 4th ranked Huskies will play the 6th ranked Panthers. The Big East has 5 teams in the AP top 10, so many of the conference games will have a direct impact on the polls. Pitt has a very good backcourt, that match-up will be very interesting. I want to give the advantage to Pitt as a unit, but I think Kemba is better than both of Pitt’s guards. Uconn’s success will have much to do with how young Napier handles the pressure of a Big East conference game against 2 very good Big East guards in Gibbs and Wanamaker. Uconn should be able to out work Pitt on the boards, it should be a very entertaining game and I can’t wait to watch!!
