Buffone’s Weekend Menu: The Final Feast

Posted By John Buffone On Dec 25 2010 @ 1:34 pm In Fantasy Football | No Comments

Everything you’ve worked so hard this year comes down to a single weekend. For most, this Sunday is the last time you’ll set a lineup until September of 2011. It’s essential that you go out in style. Here’s the last menu of 2010.

Healthy: Josh Freeman- The Tampa QB is only averaging one TD a game this month but look for that to change at home this week against Seattle. The Seahawks pass defense is bad to begin with (29th overall) but starting cornerback Marcus Trufant is questionable with a back injury. Even if he goes, Trufant will be hindered in his mobility. If he’s out, Trufant’s replacement is rookie 4th round pick Walter Thurmond.

Fattening: Eli Manning- Eli has been on and off the healthy/fattening list all year and he had a great performance last week against Philly. However, Eli will face a big task playing at Lambeau Field on Sunday against a Packer team who has to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Eli should rely on his running game to get the job done because of his patchwork receiving core and the ferocity of the Packer pass defense who is currently 4th in the league in passing TDs allowed (14) and 3rd in passing yards allowed per game with 192.4.

Healthy: Rashad Jennings- Maurice Jones-Drew is doubtful this weekend against a pitiful Washington run defense so Jennings should get the bulk of the carries. Even when MoJo was in, Jennings was getting substantial time as he racked up 3 TDs in his last 4 games. The Jags will try to control the clock and ball throughout the game so Jennings could be a workhorse.

Fattening: The New York Jets- Yes, bench the Jets entire offense this week. New York travels to the Windy City with week to take on a 3rd ranked Bears rush defense and it is kind of disconcerting that neither LaDainian Tomlinson nor Shonn Greene has scored a TD in over a month and a half. Also don’t look for Santonio Holmes or any other Jets receiver to really have a huge impact down field since their fearless leader Mark Sanchez (who hasn’t had a TD pass since Week 12 and has 5 INTs in his last four games) has torn cartilage in his throwing shoulder and could be throwing some ducks to that opportunistic Bears defense.

Healthy: Mike Williams (TB)- Williams hasn’t been as explosive recently as he was at the beginning of the year but he should get plenty of targets this week against a bad and beaten up Seattle secondary. Josh Freeman is going to take some shot down field to Williams so he could have a huge week.

Fattening: Chad Ochocinco- Chad is really banged up and might not even play (ankle) but even if he does, the 1st ranked pass defense of San Diego and key in on Chad and make him all but obsolete now that T.O. is gone. With a struggling QB like Carson Palmer throwing the ball, Chad should be a ghost afterthought this week.
