Profuse apologies for the serious lack of blogs recently. With the holidays, etc. blogging had to take a backseat. So, let’s get caught up!
-The Kings are a solid 8-2-1 in the month of December. Their most recent win came last night by a score of 4-1 against heated rival Anaheim.
-Jonathan Bernier appears to be back on track, recording 2 consecutive wins to pull within one win of a .500 record. He’s 4-5-0 on the season. For reference, Erik Ersberg was 4-3-2 in 11 games played (7 starts) in all of last season. Bernier already has 2 more starts than Ersberg was entrusted with last season.
-Anze Kopitar has pulled into the scoring lead for the Kings with 15 goals and 35 points in 34 games. Dustin Brown and Justin Williams are providing strong scoring support, each with 14 goals and 17 assists.
-Drew Doughty has come on strong of late in the scoring department. After going 10 games with out a point, Doughty has 9 points in the last 7 games
-New addition Marco Sturm saw time on the top-line against Anaheim, notching his 1st point, an assist on Kopitar’s goal.
-The Kings won their Twitter hashtag battle last night against the Ducks. Tweeters were invited to tweet #gokings or #goNHLducks, the winning team getting the losing team to donate to a charity of their choice. The Kings garnered 33,300 tweets while the Ducks only managed 12,200. “#Gokings” was trending 4th worldwide during the game last night.
-Quick continues to be a wall, with 17 wins, 7 losses, and 1 OTL.
-The Kings have a tight schedule, playing 5 games in the next 8 days, starting tonight against San Jose. The Kings first 7 games of 2011 will be played at Staples Center where they’re 13-2-1.
Puck drops tonight in San Jose at 7:30 pm PT.
