Blazers Snap Skid with Win in Utah
Posted By Wilson Tarpeh Jr. On Dec 28 2010 @ 12:07 am In Utah Jazz | No Comments
The Utah Jazz won just one quarter. The Blazers won the other 3 but still held on to win by 5. The Blazers snapped a 4 game road losing streak by beating the Jazz, whose home record falls to 11-6. Former Jazz guard Wesley Matthews had 14 points while his new team (Blazers), beat his old team 96-91. LaMarcus Alrdridge led the Blazers with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. Deron Williams almost brought the Jazz back by hitting two late game 3′s, Williams finished with 31 points and 6 assists. The Jazz just cannot regain the continuity from earlier this season. Every time they win a couple of games it only lasts for a COUPLE of games. Utah was out-rebounded 41-31 by the Blazers. The Jazz also had 17 turnovers. You can’t win in the NBA without rebounding and winning the turnover battle. Utah has to tighten that up. Paul Milsap only had 3 REBOUNDS, Al Jefferson had 9 and Andrei Kirilenko only 2.
Utah’s better than that. They need to remember what got them 21 wins in the first place. Hard-nosed defense, great work on the boards, FORCING turnovers and NOT turning the ball over. Utah is lucky to still be atop the division and should thank the Mavericks for beating the Thunder last night. Utah’s next opponent is the LA Clippers, with Blake Griffin!! Paul Milsap needs to get his act together, Griffin is a horse on the boards averaging 21 ppg and 12 rpg, Milsap’s rebounding has dropped a whole point down to 8.8 rpg. Milsap will have his hands full with this kid. The Clippers are a young team but extremely talented. The Jazz will be the visitors in that match-up on Wednesday night. Will Milsap be able to handle Griffin? Can the Jazz bounce back??
