Islanders news and notes for Jan 6, 2011 – (vs Edmonton Oilers)

C Frans Nielsen is not expected to play tonight.  He is still nursing a groin injury suffered in Monday’s game against Calgary.

G Nathan Lawson will get the start tonight for the Isles.  Lawson could be in line for significant playing time this year with Dwayne Roloson having been traded and Rick DiPietro’s injury problems.  Even when healthy, DiPietro still needs relative frequent rest to avoid flare ups.

DiPietro (groin) did participate in this morning’s skate, a positive step in his being ready to return to action soon.

C Rob Schremp makes his first return to Edmonton since the team waived him prior to last season.  He was immediately picked up by the Isles.   Schremp 7-7-14 in 23 games this season.

LW Blake Comeau is expected to return to the lineup tonight after missing Monday’s game in Calgary with neck spasms.  He is 8-13-21 in 36 games this season.
