Playoff Preview: Ravens vs. Chiefs

All stats are meaningless when it comes to the playoffs. It’s about who goes on a hot streak and can make a strong run to the Super Bowl. The Ravens have to travel to Arrowhead Stadium to play AFC West division champs, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Offense: Edge Chiefs

Overall, the Ravens have better talent on offense but don’t apply enough pressure on opposing offenses to keep pace. On the other hand, the Chiefs have the best running attack in the NFL with Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones. In the playoffs, it’s all about running the football and keeping the opposing offense of the field. If you can do that, you can win any football game. The Chiefs have an emerging star at wide receiver with Dwayne Bowe. For the season, he has 72 receptions for 1162 yards with 15 touchdowns.

Defense: Edge Ravens

The Ravens are going into the playoffs at a great time defensively. Ed Reed is steeping up his play creating turnovers for his defense.  They need to apply more pressure to the quarterback with sacks and QB hits. The Chiefs’ defense is always rested when they come on the field. Their offense runs the ball so well that they consume so much time for their defense to rest up. Eric Berry is an outstanding rookie at safety and has four interceptions on the season.

Special teams: Edge Ravens

The Ravens are a little bit stouter when it comes to kickoff and punt coverage. Also, they have one of the best punters in the game in Sam Koch. For the season, he had 39 punts which landed within their opponents own 20 yard line. It makes it much easier on a defense when the offense has to travel 80, 85 and even 90 yards to get a touchdown.

Prediction: Ravens 20, Chiefs 17

The Chiefs have a great opportunity to win this game. The Ravens offense is not on sync and they can only relay on their great defense for so long. However, I think they get through this game with a win. The Chiefs are on the rise. They have a great running game that has a chance to win any football game. The Ravens better not get careless because this team can strike quickly.
