Utah’s Bigs Power Them Past Rockets

Utah got outscored in the 1st half, decided to play in the second half, forced OT, and then won! This is “normal” for 2010 Utah Jazz basketball, all they do is fall behind far enough to rally. This time the lead got to as many as 16 before the Jazz decided that was enough, they stormed back into the game in the second half because of their defense. The Jazz held the Rockets to just 27 points in the 2nd half, the Rockets scored 52 in the first half. Utah pulled away in OT by scoring 14 points and holding the Rockets to 10 to win the game 103-99. Luis Scola brought his lunch pail to work last night, Scola finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Milsap and Al Jefferson were responsible for most of the damage caused by the Jazz, Milsap finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jefferson also had a double-double, he finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Deron Williams didn’t have the greatest of shooting nights, but he did garner a double-double. Williams scored 14 points on 5 for 16 shooting, but Williams did dish out 15 assists! CJ Miles was himself again as he scored 16 points, Utah’s bench scored 27 points as a unit. Utah turned the ball over more than the Rockets, but they out-rebounded Houston 53-42. Utah moves to 25-13 and 12-6 on the road, the Jazz end their road trip and play the Knicks at home on Wednesday. Utah and Oklahoma City won tonight, so they remain in a tie for first place in the division. Utah will have their hands full with the Knicks, they have to slow down that high octane offense. Raymond Felton and Amare Stoudamire seem as if they are really starting to gel. The Knicks are going to push the tempo, the Jazz need to slow the pace down by playing good defense and rebounding the basketball. I do know one thing, the Jazz CAN’T fall behind by double digits to the Knicks because of the tempo the Knicks play at. It will be hard to stop New York when they are running on all cylinders. Hopefully, Utah will be up to the task!!
