In another use of social media to announce news, Iowa’s junior wide receiver Marvin McNutt wrote on his Facebook page today that he’ll “be back.” Hawkeye Sports also sent out a release about McNutt’s decision to return for his senior year.
McNutt filed paperwork in December for the NFL Draft and had until Saturday, Jan. 15, to make his decision. This season, McNutt was Iowa’s leading receiver with 53 receptions, 861 yards and eight touchdowns.
On Wednesday, McNutt’s teammate junior cornerback Shaun Prater announced that he will also return to Iowa for his senior year instead of going to the NFL. There’s still one undecided Hawkeye left: Tyler Sash.
Sash, the junior safety, received All-Conference Honors with Prater this season and has a few more days to make his decision.
In other news…Iowa landed three-start New Jersey-native Quinton Alston to the 2011 class. The 6’1, 234-pound linebacker had initially planned to attend Pitt but with all the volatility on the coaching front, he changed his mind.
The Feb.2 signing deadline is approaching quickly and Iowa already has 20 commits.
