Home court winning streak is over.

I’m watching the Hawks finish their game with Houston. The Rockets held a one-point edge entering the final quarter, but then Houston’s defense took control, and the Hawks home-court winning streak is history. And let me tell you, something, I should be joining the rest of Atlanta watching the Falcons entertain the Pack in the NFC Semifinal. Hold on, the F has been posted, giving the Rockets a six point win, 112-106. Let me hit the return key on my remote and get back to the Falcons. It’s tied at 14. Okay, the Falcons are still in it. This is good.

It’s been kind of a crazy week here in Atlanta. The snowstorm dropped about four inches on the area, and like I predicted last week, the area shut down. While the storm stopped Monday, the temperature didn’t get above freezing until yesterday, meaning the snow and ice are still around. Schools and businesses were closed all week. Since Monday is the MLK day, kids were off two weeks for the holidays, came back for a week, and then had another eight days off. Parents are about ready to pull their hair out. In the Hawks case, their game with Milwaukee on Tuesday was cancelled. The Bucks got in, but the team didn’t want fans risking their necks driving in the snow and ice. Atlanta had to go to Toronto to play a game, and won convincingly other the Raptors. Atlanta only had one game this week. They should be rested, but Houston outrebounded Atlanta 45-32. That will do it. Joe Johnson pumped in 30 in a losing effort, while Aaron Brooks led the Rockets in scoring with 24, despite starting on the bench. Atlanta needs to be able to box out more at the end of the game. It’s conditioning, which I thought wouldn’t be a problem. I was wrong. Next up is another back-to-back, Atlanta hosts Sacramento in the MLK game on Monday, before playing in Miami. They need to take care of business with the first one, as the second will be hard. As for me, I hope the ice will be gone around my car by then.
