Hemsky suffers concussion-like symptoms

You can criticize Ales Hemsky for not burying his chances, or even for an inconsistent back check, but not for being soft or staying away from traffic on the ice.

That sense of renegade, however, has seemingly caught up with the talented Edmonton Oilers’ winger, who was taken out of last night’s home loss to the Minnesota Wild for concussion-like symptoms.

Hemsky underwent an MRI earlier ctoday, and will be sidelined indefinitely for what Edmonton bench boss Tom Renney described as an accumulation of things, including a puck to the head in Vancouver and a heavy hit along the boards in L.A., which are causing The Czech-born player to have some headaches.

Hemsky was quick to note that he didn’t expect to be out long, which is good news for both team and player, the latter of which is scheduled to make his first All-Star game appearance this year in Carolina.

In the meantime Oiler fans, keep you chins up…and your sticks down!
