Nets Move Past Melo to Beat Jazz

The New Jersey Nets publicly declared that they were no longer in the “Melo Sweepstakes,” the organization decided to move on and get over trying to acquire the All-Star forward. The current Nets team responded by handing the Utah Jazz their 2nd consecutive  loss, the Nets beat the Jazz 103-95. Seven out of the nine players that played for New Jersey scored in double-figures, Brook Lopez and Devin Harris combined for 34 points. New Jersey jumped out early in the first quarter, the Jazz won the 2nd quarter, but they allowed the Nets to get a big jump on them early in the 3rd and the Nets never relinquished the lead. Utah has now lost two games to teams that have yet to hit  15 wins for the season. If you are an aspiring playoff team how do you lose to the Wizards and the Nets consecutively?? Utah once again was led by their All-World PG Deron Williams, Williams had little help outside of Al Jefferson. Williams had 20 points, 10 dimes, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jefferson chipped in with 21 points and 8 rebounds, Andrei Kirilenko contributed as well with 17 points and 8 rebounds, and CJ Miles had 13 points off the bench for Utah. Memeht Okur had 8 points during his 16 minutes of play, you would think that the Jazz turned the ball over often to loose to the Nets. That wasn’t the case at all, the Jazz lost because they shot terrible and they couldn’t stop the Nets from putting the ball in the basket. Utah shot 41.6% as a team and 35.7% from beyond the arch, New Jersey on the other hand shot 49.3% as a team and an outstanding 50% from three. Utah got beat on the boards once again, this time they were out-rebounded 44-31! The only positive thing for Utah after loosing this game is that the Thunder have lost their last 2 game  as well so they remained tied atop the division. It doesn’t get any easier for the Jazz as they visit the Boston Celtics on Friday. Hopefully the thought of playing a better team will help the Jazz raise their own level of play, we shall see. Otherwise the Jazz might be in the midst of a 3 game slide, right now it’s only at 2 and I hope they leave it that way when Friday’s game is over!!
