Tigers Rout Cyclones

The Missouri Tigers are looking like they are hitting their stride. The five starters reached double digit scoring, and 11 different Tigers scored as the home team dominated Iowa State 87-54 on Saturday night.
The Cyclones kept the game close in the beginning of the first half, but the Tigers pulled away and stretched their halftime advantage to 48-26.
In the second half the Tigers continued to roll to improve to 17-3 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Michael Dixon who scored 15 points and eight assists. Marcus Denmon (13 points), Kim English (12), Ricardo Ratliffe (12) and Justin Safford (11) all paced the Tigers in their convincing victory. Ratliffe also made his presence felt on the defensive end with six blocks.
The Tigers bench saw plenty of action, which included a rare appearance from walk-on guard Jarrett Sutton who hasn’t played since January 5. The junior from Kansas City hit a three-pointer in his only attempt. When the shot splashed in Mizzou Arena was the loudest since moments of Monday’s victory over Kansas State.
Guard Jake Anderson was the only player who reached double figures for the Cyclones. He scored 20 points, and the players with the second highest score on Iowa State could only muster six points.
The Tigers now have a full week to prepare for a trip to Austin with a meeting against Texas. The Longhorns are flying high after shocking Kansas in Lawrence. Check out a blog entry later this week previewing the game on Saturday and breaking down the some of the teams in the Big 12.
