Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em Alone Week 14
Posted By Warren Shaw On Jan 24 2011 @ 12:06 am In Fantasy Basketball | No Comments
I can’t believe it is already week 14 of the fantasy season. As always there is lots to cover so without further delay….
Carlos Boozer: 20pts 10rebs and 3ast in his return on Saturday. He didn’t take his usual long recovery time and only missed 3 games to his credit as I stand corrected. Obviously get him back in your lineups. Love ‘Em.
Chris Bosh: Bosh is having trouble putting his weight on his ankle and is doubtful for the week. That said the Heat don’t play until Thursday and things could be drastically different then. Better safe than sorry as the Heat will likely take a page out of the Celtic book and rest their stars until fully healthy. Leave ‘Em Alone.
Omri Casspi: Casspi has taken over the small forward position in Sacramento while Francisco Garcia mends from another injury. Casspi had been playing well anyway and does deserve the promotion in my opinion. He is averaging 12pts, 10rebs, and 2.5ast in his last two games. Love ‘Em.
Mario Chalmers: While the Heat have struggled over the last few games Chalmers has worked his way into the starting point guard position and might have moved Carlos Arroyo into the Spolestra doghouse. He has scored double digits in 5 straight games and while the assist totals are low he exploded for 9 dimes on Saturday. Granted Bosh and Wade didn’t play but he is getting the time. Love ‘Em as an add this week to see if he can keep it up.
Carlos Delfino: Finally Delfino has recovered from the concussion he suffered way back in November. His first two games have not been anything to write home about but he got 32 minutes in his 2nd game on Saturday. Apparently Coach Skiles feels comfortable with Delfino on the floor. Grab him if he was dropped and lets see how the week plays out for him. Love ‘Em as a stash.
Semih Erden: Who? His name is Semih (like Sem-ay) Think of the Arsenio Hall character in Coming to America. Wow I am really dating myself. In any event Erden is getting spot starts while Shaq recovers from a hip injury. Erden has responded well in the two games he received ample playing time 10pts, 9rebs, and 1.5stls in the last two games. Shaq’s hip injury isn’t considered to be serious by Doc River’s account but I doubt Erden will still have value next week. If your in a real bind at center Erden might be a sneaky play for the week. Otherwise there is no sense in bothering with him. Love ‘Em for the week.
Eric Gordon: Gordon has had a rough go of it over the past two games. He has an injured back, wrist, and finger all suffered over the last two games. He has played admirably through all of it and the MRI on the wrist revealed no damage. He looks ready to go as usual for the week. Love ‘Em.
Marcin Gortat: Ok this time I’m for real. Well I hope so after talking about Gortat in at least 3 of these articles in the last month. After 3 straight double doubles Gortat is pick and rolling his way onto the rosters of many fantasy teams. He still hasn’t supplanted Robin Lopez as the starter but who cares with averages of 13.3pts, 13rebs, with 1stl and 1blk over his last 3. Love ‘Em.
Manny Harris: His value is directly tied to that of Ramon Sessions, who apparently has an abdominal strain. Mo Williams is already ailing and uninspired to play so this might provide Manny Harris the chance to shine this week. There is not enough information about Ramon Sessions to know the severity of his injury. So the best I can recommend is add Harris and see what happens. Love ‘Em.
Chuck Hayes: The smallest center in the NBA is playing very effectively for the Houston Rockets and could provide some value for your roster while Brad Miller continues to sit. Over the last 3 games Hayes has averaged 9.3pts, 8.6rebs, 4ast, 1.3stls and 1.3blks. Roto owners would love to get 4ast from their center position nightly. Love ‘Em while you still can. Brad Miller is due back soon.
Al Horford: Big Al missed two games last week after he suffered an ankle injury in a game with the rival Miami Heat. The Hawks don’t play their first game of the week until Wednesday and should be ready to go as reports say Horford’s ankle swelling has subsided considerably. Love ‘Em.
Mike Miller: The Miami Heat finally saw what they hoped Miller could provide when they signed him this summer. Miller exploded for 32pts, 10rebs, 3ast and 6 three pointers on Saturday versus the lottery bound Toronto Raptors. So should you pick him up? Probably. Is he this good? Well a closer look at the numbers say Wade and Bosh both missed the game, he did this against the Raptors, and he scored 22 of his 32 in one quarter. Go ahead and grab him if your in a league where you need 3′s and a couple extra assist. Love ‘Em in the roto format, otherwise I am lukewarm.
Ramon Sessions: I mentioned earlier in the Manny Harris section that Sessions is suffering from an abdominal strain and awaiting an evaluation. I just can’t call it on this one and its probably best to leave him alone unless something breaks soon regarding his status. Leave ‘Em alone.
Peja Stojakovic: Does Peja have anything left? The Dallas Mavericks are willing to find out as they were first in line to scoop him up after he was bought out by the Raptors last week. Well its not official but rumored to become so on Monday. Dallas is dying for offensive with the loss of Caron Butler and Dirk still working his way back from his knee sprain that wasn’t as mild as first reported. “Stoyo” is a shooter and can be very streaky, if this deal becomes official he might be worth an add if you need 3′s and a couple extra rebounds. Love ‘Em as an add and stash for the week.
The Melo Trade: Now that it is rumored to be dead again there is no use in holding on to the potentially affected parties who would have gained boosts by way of the trade. That means Troy Murphy, Rip Hamilton, and Derrick Favors should most likely be on waivers unless you have a really deep team that can afford to wait. Favors is starting in New Jersey but doing nothing with his time. Troy Murphy is away from the team awaiting a trade to another destination and potentially a contender which would limit his fantasy value (San Antonio, Dallas and Orlando are the rumored interested parties). Rip Hamilton is still not playing in Detroit and at this point the relationship would appear damaged beyond repair between Rip and the Pistons. A buyout might be in the works but no need to hold on. Leave Em’ all alone.
Have a great week everybody!
