Another Strong Recruiting Class for the Spartans

As of right now, the Michigan State Spartans have signed twenty prospects. They rank #31 in the ESPN recruiting rankings and are considered a team on the cusp of breaking into the Top 25. The only teams ranked ahead of MSU in the Big Ten Conference are the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Of course it is still early and this could all change, but as of now, this MSU recruiting class looks to be one of the best in the country. Most importantly, the Spartans again signed the number one prospect in Michigan for the second year in a row, while also receiving their second ESPN top 150 recruit in as many years. Inside linebacker Lawrence Thomas (ranked #150, #8 linebacker) has the ability to come in and make an impact as a true freshman, especially considering what the Spartans lost at linebacker this past season. A huge commitment for the Spartans, as Coach Dantonio continues to build solid recruiting classes, year after year. Here is a look at the other signees:

Not sure I would consider #31 a strong recruiting class especially signing the #1 player in the state – so what does that say about the other recruits.

On top of that, Michigan’s head coach Brady Hoke only had 3 weeks to put together a class after some defected after the RichRod firing. Rivals.com has Michigan ranked #21 – Dantonio can’t be sleeping well.

Big 10 as a whole didn’t do much that would jump out at people. Going off of ESPN only 2 Big 10 teams even made it and 1 of them is new comer Nebraska. We will have to wait at least 2 seasons to see what this years class shows us.

But on the other hand it is about evaluating talent and just because Michigan St didn’t finish among the nations top 25 in either Rivals or ESPN doesn’t mean they won’t end up having some pretty good players develop out of this year class.

In the world of college football as it is today it’s pretty much the what the SEC gets in recruiting and the leftovers the rest of the country gets from what they can’t find room to sign.

Even with my favorite program Florida St finishing among the top ranked classes on many recruiting websites all programs including them have a ways to go in catching up to the waves flocking to SEC programs and to stop the run of national championships that conferense has going.

9 out of the 12 teams in SEC conference landed in ESPN’s top 25, not to mention 78 out of the 150 kids that made their top 150 are from SEC country.

I believe Dantonio is sleeping very well considering he has won the last three against Michigan and a Big Ten Title last year!

On top of that, this recruiting stuff has really got out of hand and these rankings are so arbitrary. Dantonio filled the needs of his team and that is the only thing that really matters, not the rankings.

You are the one that started off in your blog the ESPN rankings by team and player – now you are saying it’s immaterial.

Also, who didn’t in the Big 10 beat RichRod the last 3 years. The Spartans tied for the Big 10 title as I doubt they would have won/tied if they had to play Ohio St. They didn’t even play in a BCS game and then whined about it for a month. Then they got embarrassed by Alabama. The football bar must be low in East Lansing.

The rankings do not matter, but for fans of their team, that is what they want to hear about. I do not personally put any stock in them, but I must let Spartan Nation know what this year’s recruting class is ranked. You sound like a bitter Michigan fan, whose team has not won anything significant in a long time. I know it is tough but hang in there another three years when maybe you can bring in a coach with a winning record. For now, the Spartans are the reigning Big Ten Champs, in beating every team on their scedule last year (except for Iowa), including your Wolverines! Go Green!

This is a site about fans blogging about their teams so if it’s something some what to know or read about odds are you’ll find it here.

      Start winning before judging

And yes, the football bar is low in East Lansing with 11 wins last year! 8 Big Ten wins last year… 6 TOTAL Big Ten victories the last 3 years. And you think the bar is set low in EL?

You can never full judge a class till after it’s had time to play and develop to see what they’ve done.

Espn did some stuff recently on the top 10 classes of 2007 and how they would be ranked now. It shows you sometimes things end up not how you’d think when they actually happen.

      http://es.pn/gd4t8w

It shows you that some teams didn’t even finish in the original top 10 of that year like Ohio St, North Carolina, or Georgia Tech but based on it now they would be and programs like USC wouldn’t have finished #1 and classes like Notre Dame, Michigan, & Miami wouldn’t even be in the top 10.

Bottom line is like Jimbo Fisher said he didn’t care he had the #1 class because he needed to find the best kids for his program and style of play. Sure some happen to be top ranked but it doesn’t mean much if they don’t fit the mold of what that coach is trying to do for that program.

You just login and can browse through the available games and download the ones you want.
Knowing how to play this game is simple however becoming an expert in this game is not an easy matter at all.
This is comparable to Final Fantasy VII but with a more in-depth graphics and game play.
