Philadelphia Continues Hot Streak in Newark

Who didn’t have a great game for the Philadelphia 76ers tonight?
The Sixers continue their strong play as they defeated the New Jersey Nets, 106-92, at “The Rock” in Newark. The Nets had been 5-1 in their last six home games prior to tonight’s loss.
The Sixers move to 22-26 under head coach Doug Collins and currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
New Jersey meanwhile has lost all three games to Philadelphia this season and is now 0-7 against Atlantic Division teams.
After getting off to a terrific start Monday against the Denver Nuggets, the Nets had a poor opening half and trailed 53-44 at halftime. Kris Humphries was the only Net in double figures with 12 points.
Philadelphia picked up right where they left off early in the second half as they established a 21-point lead.
Emotions ran high for New Jersey. After a no-foul called when Devin Harris was hacked and pushed all in the same play, Nets head coach Avery Johnson stepped far out onto the court to voice his opinion to an official.
Johnson received his first ejection as Nets coach in hopes of inspiring his team to pick up their play. Assistant coach Sam Mitchell, who won the NBA Coach of the Year in 2006-2007 for the Toronto Raptors, slid over one seat to take the helm.
New Jersey responded quickly with a 10-0 run that closed the Philadelphia lead to 11 at the end of the third quarter.
But the Sixers picked up the pace in the fourth quarter and cruised to the victory.
Louis Williams led all scorers with 26 points off bench in just 31 minutes of play.
Jrue Holiday recorded his first career triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Elton Brand notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Andre Iguodala and Jody Meeks knocked in 16 and 15 points, respectively.
For the Nets, Brook Lopez, Humphries and Harris all scored 16 points. Rookie Derrick Favors pulled down 11 boards.
The Nets head to the Palace in Detroit to take on the Pistons this Friday.
