The Houston Rockets snapped a 3 game loosing streak by beating the Jazz, Utah had this game won until the very closing seconds. Kevin Martin converted a 3 point play to win the game for the Rockets, Utah was shorthanded again due to injuries. Deron Williams, Andrei Kirilenko, and Mehmet Okur were ruled out of last night’s game. That is by no means an excuse, Utah was leading the game down the stretch until the Martin play. Houston was driven to the win by the strong play of Kyle Lowry, Lowry took advantage of D-Will’s absence by outplaying Earl Watson. Lowry had 16 points,6 rebounds, and 5 assists as Houston’s back court outscored Utah’s. Kevin Martin added 22 points, Utah’s back-court combined for just 15 points! Utah was led by the strong play of their big men, both Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap recorded double-doubles. Jefferson had 20 points, 12 boards, and 2 blocks. Milsap finished with 20 points, 11 boards, and 3 blocks! Gordon Hayward got the start at small forward and finished with 10 points on 4 of 4 shooting. CJ Miles provided the spark off the bench with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Utah is now 29-21, their home record has fallen to 17-9 and they are now 2-2 without a certain Mr. Deron Williams. Houston has a day off before they go to Denver to play the Nuggets, Utah really needs that win. It’s a division game, after the loss to the Rockets this becomes a MUST win. Denver has been going through it with all of the Carmelo Anthony nonsense, they are in 2nd place in the division though. Utah is 3 games back of the Thunder and a half game back of the Nuggets. Utah needs to get back on track before the All-Star break!
