Syracuse Ends Skid by Beating Huskies

The Syracuse Orangemen haven’t won a game in 2 weeks, 2 weeks in the Big East without a win. That is an entirety in Conference Play, Uconn has now lost 2 consecutive games after winning 6 straight. Syracuse beat Uconn in Hartford 66-58, they held Kemba Walker to a season low 8 points!! Uconn started out fast before Syracuse rallied back to take the lead into the half, the Orangemen were powered by the strong play of Brandon Trische and Rick Jackson. Trische lead the Orangemen in scoring with 16 points, Jackson had double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Now that I’ve given the Orangemen their proper credit and respect for their win, I will now turn my attention to the Huskies. Uconn WAS on the loosing end of this, what was interesting was that Uconn lost the game. Syracuse didn’t in the game so much as Uconn lost it, Uconn has lost the last 2 games because of their lack of attention to detail down the stretch. Yes Kemba Walker has been struggling as of late, who at the start of the season thought that the Huskies would be able to score with him struggling. That’s growth, Jeremy Lamb carried the Huskies again with 22 points. The problem was that Lamb was the only Husky to score in double-figures. Allow that to sink in, the Huskies lost to Syracuse with a freshman carrying the load offensively. Imagine the things this team can accomplish when Walker gets out of this slump!! Uconn lost the game on the boards and by turning the ball over, they got out-rebounded 42-32. Alex Oriahki had 9 points, 5 blocks, and 5 rebounds. Uconn turned the ball over 14 times to Syracuse’s 9, you can’t win close games when turning the ball over. These 2 losses will help this young team as they go forward, these young players have done a great job this season and will only get better from experiences like this. Up next for the Huskies is a road game, they will be visiting the Prudential Center to play Seton Hall. Uconn needs to snap this 2 game slide, they are 17-4 and 5-4 in the Big East.
