Ron Santo's death has not even begun to hit me yet. Once spring training starts and he is not on the air, cubs fans everywhere will again feel the sting of losing one of our beloved heros. Ron was one of us. He felt our pain with every pitch. He would get as worked up over a game as the die hard bleacher bums. It saddens me to know that he will never see his beloved team win the World Series. He like many before him rooted for the cubbies to win it all only to die before that goal was ever reached. It's nice to see the Cubs organization show their respect to Santo. They are putting up a statue of Ron on August 10. They didn't miss a beat and it shows how much Ron meant to us all. Hopefully the 2011 Cubs can put together a nice season for Ronnie!

I agree. Ron was as beloved as Harry Carey. I don't think the full impact of Rons death with hit me till I turn on WGN 720 at 1:20 April 1st...or for that matter spring training. Thats one thing about Ron...he traveled to spring training and any game he physically could. He will be missed.
