Williams Key As Utah Drops Denver

The Utah Jazz limped into Denver, they walked out with a win and a lead over the Nuggets. Utah’s current run of bad luck with injuries took a turn for the better last night, All-Star Point Guard Deron Williams returned. That was key as the Jazz beat the Nuggets 113-106, just not as key as the performance of Mr. Al Jefferson. Big Al has been one of the constants for the Jazz this whole season, much of his work goes unnoticed. What is important is that he is consistent, durable, reliable, and very talented. Big Al had a personal game of 1 on 1 with Denver’s Nene, both big men carried their teams. Nene had 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocks!! Big Al did even more with 28 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks!! D-Will didn’t even look like he had missed the last 4 games, he looked like a man deserving of his 2nd straight All Star bid. D-Will finished with 26 points and 12 assists, Raja Bell came up big for the Jazz as well. ┬áRaja had 20 points and 7 rebounds, his biggest contribution of the night doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. Bell bothered both JR Smith and Carmelo Anthony all night, Bell got under Smith’s skin which led to Smith committing a flagrant 2 foul on Bell. Smith was ejected and Bell calmly sank both free-throws. Jefferson’s biggest block was down the stretch on Melo after he had beaten Bell baseline, Jefferson truly proved his worth on a national stage in a big game. CJ Miles had 13 points and 3 rebounds off the bench, Earl Watson also contributed heavily coming off the bench for Utah. Watson had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Jazz are now 30-21, they are only a half game up on the Nuggets and still trail the Thunder by 3 games. Utah’s next opponent is the division leading Oklahoma City Thunder, looks like Deron Williams came back just in time!! Hopefully the Jazz can get Andrei Kirilenko back for tonight’s game as well!!
