Aldridge Left Off All-Star Squad

Posted By Brandon Marcus On Feb 6 2011 @ 10:40 am In Portland Trail Blazers | No Comments

LaMarcus has played an all-star level for the better part of two months, but he won’t be suiting up for the upcoming All-Star game in Los Angeles.

Kevin Love replaced the injured Yao Ming for the last spot on the team and make no mistake, with his NBA leading 15.6 rebounds per contest, he is well deserving.

Aldridge has been the story of season for Portland, taking his game to a higher level and putting his hobbled team on his back. His play of late no doubt warranted an All Star appearance, none the less it’s difficult to argue that he merited spot more than anyone who made it.

Tim Duncan remains the centerpiece of a team that boasts the best record in the league. Blake Griffin has been the “wow” player of the year so far, and has the stats to go with it.

LaMarcus has emerged as the type of performer worthy of a double team and their running their offense predominantly through him in the low post. From this point forward the team will be built around his skills, and if this is the level we can now expect to see on a consistent basis, there will be plenty of All-Star appearances in the years to come.
