It’s Still A Point – Super Bowl Pick

Well the Calgary Flames finally lost a game after winning six in a row. But the Flames can take solace in the fact that they got a point out of the game after losing in the seventh round of the shootout, and that is something I think the Flames can build on. Like I have mentioned in the past few weeks this team seems to have found some resiliency.

In the past if Miikka Kiprusoff would have given up that terrible goal in the first minute of the game it would have been a huge punch to the gut of this team. But the Flames came back and scored right away to tie the game. The Flames got behind the Kings three times and all three times came back to tie the game and send it to overtime. This just hasn’t happened in the past.

Jonathon Quick played extremely well for the Kings, and probably said a few thank you’s to his posts in the shootout as three times Quick got a piece of a shot to hear it ring off the post behind him and stay out. The Los Angeles Kings as a whole are a very good team, and if they add a couple pieces at the deadline they could be a serious player in the Western Conference.

And finally I’ll give you my Super Bowl pick before I run out to watch the game. This is the first time I can remember where I don’t see a clear favorite in this game! Let’s hope it’s as close as it appears it should be. At the end of the day I’ll lean on experience and I think Mike Wallace will make a big play at some point that could be the difference. Either way I think it will be a great game.

Pittsburgh Steelers 21
Green Bay Packers 17

Have a good one!
