Chicago has won the last 9 out of 10 against Calgary with Crawford getting the win in their last meeting, but has been sitting as backup to Mary Turco for the past 2 weeks.  With the home team prevailing in each matchup this year thus far, the Flames continue to keep the winning streak at home, by burning by the Hawks 3-1.  Miikka Kiprusoff comes away with 22 saves making his record 7-0-1 in the last 8 games.

Calgary comes out strong in the first period with a nice goal by Mikael Backlund at 14:33 from Bouma and Pardy. Chicago only had 3 shots on net, while Crawford stopped 9 out of 10.

Chicago answered back in the 2nd at 5:56 with a goal by Patrick Kane, making it is 15th of the season, [1]from Toews [2] and Brouwer [3]. They had 3 powerplay chances in the 2nd, but couldn’t score on any of them.   Chicago leads the league with 24.3 % PP but couldn’t make it work tonight.  At 8:37 in the 3rd, The Flames get ahead when Curtis Glencross gets one past Crawford from Jokinen and Regehr on a nice steal from Chicago in a 3 on 3.  The Hawks get another powerplay chance but failed, as Rene Borque gets the empty netter at 19:35 when Chicago pulls Crawford in making it 3-1.

Tonight’s win put Calgary in playoff contention with 61 points in 8th place.  Chicago stay’s in 11th place with 58 points, winning just 1 out of their last 5 games.  They will continue on the road as they visit the Oilers on Wednesday night for the 4th time this season. Chicago won 1 out 3 games, losing both games at home, and beating the Oilers in Edmonton in their last matchup November 17th.
