Miami Comes Back In Fourth Quarter to Take Down Pacers

LeBron James might win the MVP after all.  The man rolled out another great performance on Tuesday night in Miami.  James led all scorers with 41 points in the 117-112 win over Indiana.  He also grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 8 assists.   If you just look at the box score that line looks great, but if you watched the game, there were plenty of things that should concern you as a Heat fan.

On a night when LeBron was shining bright, it was not completely a one-man show.  Miami had four players in double-figures including a welcome performance by Mario Chalmers, who chipped in 16 points.  Dwyane Wade was a little off and only had 17 points on the night, while Chris Bosh threw in 19.  Now step back and realize that the Pacers had the lead almost the entire night, and had it not been for big runs by the Heat to close both the second and third quarters, Miami might have lost to Indiana for the second time this year.  What gives?

Sometimes a team just causes problems for another team.  Just ask the Dallas Mavericks about the Golden State Warriors a few years ago.  The Mavs could beat everyone in the league except that team by the bay.  The Pacers seem to present a similar problem for the Heat.  For the majority of the game tonight, Indiana looked like the better team.  It wasn’t a one-man show for them either, as they had solid contributions from several players, including Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, and Tyler Hansbrough.  Hibbert, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the game, looks quicker and more explosive than he ever did at Georgetown.  I bring up the comparison to the Warriors-Mavs debacle from a few years ago, because Miami and Indiana could very easily meet in the first round of the NBA Playoffs later this year.  With everyone in South Florida so concerned about teams like the Boston Celtics, it would be a shame if the Heat tripped over a team like the Pacers in the first round.
