Memorable Nights For Junior Guards

If you like high scoring basketball then Mizzou Arena was the place to be on Tuesday night.
The Missouri Tigers (20-6, 6-5 Big 12) defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-15, 3-8) 92-84 in a fast paced shootout. Junior guards Marcus Denmon and Kim English planted their names in the Missouri basketball history book as they reached the 1,000 point plateau for their college careers.
The Tigers jumped out to a 30-22 lead 11 minutes into the game and it looked like the Tigers would cruise to a 16-0 home record. But a 16-2 Red Raiders run midway through the first half quieted the home crowd. The Tigers responded to take a 45-44 halftime lead. Denmon scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half and freshman Ricky Kreklow made a major contribution for the second straight game.
The Red Raiders kept pace with the Tigers for most of the second half, but a 12-2 run set the home team free. The Tigers held on for to improve to fourth place in the conference.
The Tigers have a great opportunity to pick up their first conference road victory at Iowa State (14-11, 1-9). The Cyclones will look to avenge an 87-54 rout by the Tigers last month.
