Uconn Flat, Cardinals Sweep Huskies

Posted By Wilson Tarpeh Jr. On Feb 18 2011 @ 11:45 pm In UConn | No Comments

The Louisville Cardinals had just lost to the Cincinnati Bearcats, they avenged that loss by running past the Uconn Huskies 71-58. It was the 3rd game in 5 days for the Huskies, the Cardinals didn’t care as they surged past the Huskies in the 2nd half after the Huskies got the lead. Uconn had just come off a big win against Georgetown on Wednesday, that gave the Huskies their 20th win of the season. What was rather interesting was that the Cardinals got their 20th win by beating the Huskies this evening. Peyton Siva had another good game against Uconn, Siva had 15 points and 6 assists. The Cardinals got a big contribution from Gorgui Deng who had a double-double, Deng had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Just when we thought Kemba Walker was back, Louisville pestered him into a bad game. Kemba still finished with 16 points, but much of it was from the free throw line. Jamal Coombs McDaniel continued his strong play by scoring 16 points, the problem for the Huskies is that when Coombs found his way Lamb has kind of went away. Jeremy Lamb didn’t record a single point in 25 minutes of playing time. Uconn got out-rebounded and lost the turnover battle, Uconn had 16 turnovers to Louisville’s 8 turnovers. ¬†Uconn is now 20-6 and 8-6 in the Big East, that is good enough for 7th place. That’s how deep the Big East is, 20-6 record has you in 7th place!! Uconn’s next game is against Marquette who’s 6-7 in the Conference, that game will be a home game for the Huskies before they get on the road for their next 2 games. Uconn needs to finish strong down the stretch, the top 4 teams in the Conference get a bye in the Big East Tournament.
