It took longer than they would have hoped, but the Missouri Tigers basketball will feel a sense of relief after their first Big 12 road win. The 76-70 victory over Iowa State improves the Tigers record to 21-6 overall and 7-5 in conference play.
Fresh off his 20 point performance on Tuesday against Texas Tech, Marcus Denmon tallied 25 points on Saturday afternoon. A strong performance from the frontcourt trio of Laurence Bowers (16 points), Ricardo Ratliffe (10) and Justin Safford (8) came through down the stretch to secure the Tigers first victory outside the state of Missouri since December 2 at Oregon.
The Cyclones kept the game close throughout until the Tigers began to pull away in the end with clutch free throw shooting. The Tigers shot 19-for-24 from the charity stripe, an area in the game where they struggled earlier this season.
The Cyclones were lead by Jake Anderson who scored 17 points. Big 12 play hasn’t been kind to the Cyclones as they are 1-11 and have lost nine consecutive contests.
Flying high on a three game winning streak, the Tigers have a vital home game this Wednesday against Baylor. After a slow start to conference play the Bears have gotten back on track and are on the NCAA tournament bubble. The game starts at 8:30 at Mizzou Arena.
