After a week of home cooking, the Washington Capitals resembled a team playing the last game of a 10 game road trip. No legs, no commitment to 1 on 1 battles, poor back checking and indifferent goal-tending. This recipe for disaster culminated in a 6-0 loss to the Rangers, continuing the Cap’s poor showing on home ice.
The Caps have lost 3 straight home games and are 1-3-1 in their last 5 in the now unfriendly confines of the Verizon Center.
The Rangers scored 2 goals in each of the three periods. Erik Christensen had two goals and two assists for the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist (my fantasy league goalie for all those keeping track), made 35 saves in his league leading 8th shut out (an yes, I sit atop my fantasy league).
My mother often said, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Unfortunately, I’ve said enough about this game…
