As first reported here on Friday and now the first to report it on the internet tonight, Phillips signs a three year…..9.25 million dollar extension to go with a NMC. Great news! We had the number of years and dollar figure on Friday, 2.5 days before anyone had it!! Here is hoping all hockey websites out there give us our recognition, if not then those sites will never get another bit of information from us again!!
10:05am Friday, Feb. 25th – Sources tell us that Ottawa Senators defensemen Chris Phillips will sign a three year 9 million dollar extension by Sunday evening. The deal will have a NMC for possibly all 3 years but most likely a NMC for 2 years with a limited NTC for the final year of the deal.
The deal makes sense for both parties as Phillips is taking less money to stay in Ottawa where he wants to be and the Sens get the 13 year veteran in the fold to anchor the blueline and mentor the young and upcoming defensemen.
Phillips is a mainstay in the community and organization. He will continue to be one of the key faces of the franchise as they move through their rebuilding years.
Check back over the weekend with more to come as the deal becomes official. But you heard it here first at Prosportsblogging.com
