Down to the wire on trade deadline

The Washington Capitals picked 32 year old Marco Sturm off of waivers, adding additional speed to the club.  The recently well traveled Sturm has been on a roller coaster, of sorts, this year.  He began the year in Boston, was traded to Los Angeles, played 17 games before suffering a knee injury.  Sturm tallied 5 goals and 4 assists in 17 games with the Kings.

It appears last ditch efforts to find that 2nd line center is focusing around Jason Arnott.  The New Jersey Devil’s center is an unrestricted free agent and the Devils will make sure to get some value for him.

Likely trade candidates continue to be Mathieu Perreault, Jason Chimera, and Alex… not “The Great”, but Alexander Semin.  A loud message would be sent if Caps brass unload Semin.  The Caps would be assured a block buster trade should Semin be moved!
