Mavs Too Much for 76ers Down The Stretch

The same day Doug Collins was announced as the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month, I thought it was his worst game coaching. All of that combined with the Sixers easy misses in the 4th quarter and the veteran play by the Mavs led to a tough home loss.

These kind of losses hurt but they are forgivable because the Mavs are such a good team. However, the Sixers could have easily won this game just as easily as they let it slip away. They had their chances and they missed them it was as simple as that. Only Jrue Holiday had a good game and Iguodala and Lou Williams were awful. The fact that Lou Williams, who had a horrible shooting night and was getting lit up by Jason Terry and JJ Barrea, was still in the game with 8 minutes remaining was baffling while Jodie Meeks who was having one of his best games sit, it really just goes to Doug Collins. He also left Evan Turner, who I like and always want him to get as much playing time as possible in too long and he made some rookie mistakes.

All of that could have been forgiven if Iggy wasn’t the master brick layer in the NBA. I could have multiple mansions with all the bricks Andre has put up in Philly throughout the years. Tonight was just so frustrating to watch him throw up shots that would have hurt somebody if there wasn’t a backboard. The fans even booed him after he threw up two clunkers from the free throw line down five with 45 seconds left. His stat line tonight really didn’t paint the picture. It’s a shame because he is one of the premiere defensive players in the league, and he is also one of the most athletic, but his lack of shooting ability has cost the 76ers many times.

Also, bad news for Sixers fans is “Mr. Reliable” Elton Brand left the game in the 4th quarter with what looked to be a hand injury, we’ll see how this plays out because they need him down the stretch.
