Utah’s Rally Falls Short Against Boston

Posted By Wilson Tarpeh Jr. On Mar 1 2011 @ 12:13 am In Utah Jazz | No Comments

The Boston Celtics came into Salt Lake City and won an incredibly HARD FOUGHT game, the Celtics out-lasted the Jazz 107-102. Boston’s Big 3 really showed up down the stretch of this game, Paul Pierce(21 points/7 boards) and Ray Allen(25 points) hit big shots while Kevin Garnett ( 16 points/14 rebounds) was a beast on the boards. Utah just couldn’t get the stops they needed at the end, the Jazz did a heck of a job fighting back into the game after they found themselves down by 13. ┬áBig Al Jefferson had another monster night with 28 points, 19 boards, and 2 blocks. All of Boston’s starters finished in double figures, 4 of Utah’s 5 starters finished in double figures. Devin Harris looks like he’s starting to get comfortable here in Utah, Harris had 19 points and 5 dimes while only turning the ball over twice. Harris had a couple of huge drives in which he displayed that great speed of his going end to end and finishing at the rim. Paul Milsap (17 points) and Andrei Kirilenko (18 points) really contributed on the offensive end, but their presence was missed on the boards as they COMBINED for just 7 rebounds!! Derrick Favors is really starting to become a spark off the bench for the Jazz, Favors came in and had 9 points and 4 rebounds. A couple of those points came from the post and he had 2 HUGE dunks!! Favors also made his presence felt on the defensive end by blocking a shot and altering countless others in his 16 minutes of playing time. CJ Miles the GUY off the bench for Utah continued to struggle with his shot, he scored just 2 points in 16 minutes!! Utah doesn’t look like a rebuilt team, they look a little differently with out D-Will obviously yet they are still competing hard. They just need to learn to close these games out, they had another chance tonight and let it slip away. They got out-executed down the stretch by the Celtics, Utah’s record is now 32-29 and 17-14 at home. Utah is still in 4th place in the division and trail the Thunder by the same number of games(5.5). Utah needs to get it going so they can get some momentum and try to make the playoffs!! Their next game is Thursday at home against Denver, a win will certainly put them in the right direction!!
