Opening Day sits just on the other side of March. The Yankees have been in Tampa for a few weeks already, but really, not a lot is clear.
A.J. Burnett threw a couple of innings yesterday. Freddy Garcia will pitch against the Rays today. As usual, all eyes are on Joba, but Phil Hughes is fine, and CC is skinny. Andy Pettitte is retired and the rotation is still up in the air.
Behind the plate, Francisco Cervelli is in a three-way fight with Jesus Montero and Austin Romine to back up Russell Martin. Jorge Posada is in camp, but will only catch in an emergency.
The Rays added Manny and Damon. The Phils got Cliff Lee (again). The Yankees? It certainly wasn’t a blockbuster kind of off-season for them, now was it?
Basically, we know a lot of nothing. Four weeks from now, however, Joe Girardi better have a plan for a rotation, a line-up and a bullpen. Until then, don’t hold your breath for much news out of Tampa.

Stephanie, I’ve always enjoyed your work. Wanted to re-introduce myself I’m going to be the new MLB content director and was hoping to communicate with you regarding some ideas on 2011. Would you mind contacting me @ christopherrowe@prosportsblogging.com?
