New Sens Third Jersey and the next Sens GM could be?

The new GM of the Ottawa Senators could be the current Assistant GM of the Nashville Predators Paul Fenton. Sens owner Eugene Melnyk has already reached out to Fenton through a few close friends. In due time, Melnyk will ask for permission to interview Fenton. I am told Fenton is at the top of Melnyk’s list to replace current GM Bryan Murray. Murray will be kept on as Vice-President as well being an advisor for the incoming GM. Sources have also told us that a former NHL player who is recently retired will be interviewed for the general manager’s position. Both sources have asked us not to go public with the name yet but once we are able to do so, we will be the first to post it here at Prosportsblogging.com.
Here is information we pulled from the Nashville Predators website regarding Fenton. Impressive resume if you ask me.
His fifth as the club’s assistant general manager, Paul Fenton has been instrumental in bringing in many of Nashville’s core players, primarily through the draft, but also through trades and free agent signings. After serving as the director of player personnel for the Predators’ first eight seasons, Fenton was promoted to assistant general manager on June 5, 2006, where he oversees the Predators’ amateur player development, manages the team’s professional and amateur scouting staff and advises General Manager David Poile on player personnel decisions. He has been in charge of all player acquisitions since joining the Predators and managed the club’s Entry Draft efforts since 2003 (when the team selected Ryan Suter, Shea Weber, Kevin Klein and Alexander Sulzer).
The Senators are set to have a new third jersey commemorating the 20th anniversary of the modern day Ottawa Senators. Don’t forget it was Prosportsblogging.com who first had the story back in October that Reebok had indeed approved the new third jersey. The jersey will be black with the original O on the chest with red and white stripes through it. One shoulder will have a patch for the 20th anniversary while the other shoulder will have a patch honouring the 1920 Ottawa Senators Stanley Cup Champions. The Sens were an official member of the NHL from 1917-1934. They won Cups in1920, 1921, 1923 and 1927. They called these The Super Six years.
Nice to see Hockeybuzz.com and Sportsnet.ca give us credit for having the Chris Phillips signing first, well ahead of any other media outlet. As well, they gave us credit for having the Chris Campoli connection to Chicago on Sunday evening and for having the Jason Arnott trade first. It’s sad when other smaller websites fail to give you the right credit and to be honourable in this industry. But alas, the smaller sites continue to be small by not giving the proper people the credit they rightfully deserve.
More to come.
