The Eagles improved their season record to 19-11 (9-7 ACC) in their regular season finale against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Senior Day. And what a sendoff it was for seniors Biko Paris, Joe Trapani, and Corey Raji who hopefully played their final home games and will not be returning to the Conte Forum to host an NIT game.
Paris scored 19 points in the victory on 6-7 shooting and 1-2 from the line. All seven of Paris’ shot attempts in the game were from beyond the arc. For anyone without a calculator handy that’s 85.7% three point shooting on the day for someone who had been averaging 37.8% from long range and 9.5 points per game on the season. Trapani added 17 and Raji contributed 21 with his Super Bowl winning brother spotted in attendance.
While a win over the Demon Deacons really does nothing to improve BC’s tournament resume, it was important to avoid a “bad loss” against the last place team in the conference. This win combined with Virginia Tech’s loss at Clemson yesterday means BC will rematch with Wake Forest in the first round of the ACC Conference tournament on Thursday. Avoiding a bad loss on Thursday probably, key word “probably”, should guarantee an at-large bid with the bubble being as weak as it is this year. Winning against Wake Forest for the second consecutive time automatically means a quarterfinal game against the Clemson Tigers who defeated the Eagles by 8 in the only match-up this year.
