The Stars should receive a big boost tonight with Brad Richards returning to the lineup. He’s been cleared to return to action and tonight’s home mathup against the Flames will be his first action since he took the hit by Sami Pahlsson on February 13th. The hit came in the dying seconds of a 2-1 loss on home ice. The hit would seem pretty harmless if you watch it but it left Richards in a daze and it seemed obvious after he was declared “day to day with an upper body injury” that it was a concussion.
The Stars had lost their previous four games before that loss against the Blue Jackets, and lost the next four with Richards being out. But they’ve managed to re-group since and are currently on a 5-0-1 run with much of that due to the return of Jamie Benn who returned two weeks ago after missing 14 games.
Tonight’s match up is the first of a seven game home stand in which the Stars will play six of those games against teams that are within just a few points of them in either direction in the wild Western conference battle royal for playoff positions.
