CJ Miles hasn’t been shooting real great as of late, well he made up for it against the Timberwolves. Miles went for a career high 40 points, he had 18 in the FIRST quarter!! Miles has long been a super-sub for the Jazz, he has been getting to start lately and maybe he’s proved he belongs in the starting 5. The Jazz went on to pummel the Timberwolves 119-104 behind the strong play of CJ Miles. Miles started the game on fire, 4 of his first 7 shots were from deep!! Utah gave new Head Coach Ty Corbin his first back to back wins by beating Minnesota, Utah scored 30 plus points in both the first and second quarter!! Every member of Utah’s starting five scored in double-figures, with Miles promotion Raja Bell has taken his place on the second unit. Al Jefferson came to play tonight as well, Big Al had 26 points and 11 boards. Big Al also had 4 blocked shots and altered numerous other shot attempts. Derrick Favors got the start in place of the injured Paul Milsap, Favors had a pretty solid outing. In 24 minutes Favors had 13 points, 5 boards, and 3 blocks!! That added size allowed Utah to stay competitive with Kevin Love(22 pts&11 rebs) and the Wolves on the boards. Utah improved their home record to 20-15 and their overall record to 36-33, that still leaves them in 4th place in their division. The good news is that they are only 2.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for that 8th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Utah’s next game is on the road in Houston, they take on the Rockets Sunday Night.
The UtahJazz.com just tweeted ” Per Kevin Oconnor Memeht Okur is going to be shut down for the remainder of the season.” So Favors will and should continue to get minutes, hopefully Okur recovers from his injury well.
