The Cincinnati Bearcats defeated the Missouri Tigers 78-63 in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday night.
The Tigers had a dream start to the game as they went on a 9-2 early. It was the best several minutes of play that the Tigers showed since their February 23 win over Baylor. However, the Bearcats came back while the Tigers went cold from the field. The six seeded Bearcats held a 39-28 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Tigers bench showed some signs of life, but the Bearcats responded well offensively. The Big East team shot 53 percent on the night, while the Tigers only shot 37 percent.
The Tigers were lead by Ricardo Ratliffe with 13 points. Marcus Denmon and Laurence Bowers netted 10 points apiece.
Bearcats forward Yancy Gates scored 18 points. They now move on to play UConn on Saturday in the third round of the tournament.
