Thunder Push Jazz Further Away From Playoffs

The Oklahoma City Thunder had just come off an EMBARASSING loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Raptors beat them by double-digits I believe. Well the Thunder flexed their muscles late on the Utah Jazz to win 106-94. This game was a perfect example as to why you MUST have an “elite” point guard in this league, Utah was without Devin Harris who sat out with a strained right hamstring. So Russell Westbrook took advantage of the situation late in the game and helped the Thunder pull away, Utah got a great effort from Al Jefferson. Jefferson had a monstrous game with 32 points and 12 boards, Utah did a great job competing after going down early to the Thunder. Westbrook had a big night, scoring 31 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, as well as dropping 4 dimes and tallying 2 steals!! Westbrook is a lot for anyone to handle, but the Jazz did as well as they could with Earl Watson and Ronnie Price. The two point guards combined for 16 points and 3 turnovers against Westbrook’s 31 points and 3 turnovers. Paul Milsap had a decent game scoring 18 points and grabbing 7 boards, but Milsap had a horrible time holding on to the ball by committing 6 turnovers!! Andrei Kirilenko started the game, but he left after only 14 minutes of playing time due to an injury. So there went Utah’s best perimeter defender, Kevin Durant went off for 29 points on only 12 attempts from the floor. The remainder of the damage was done at the charity stripe, Durant connected on 13 of his 15 trips to the line. CJ Miles had a horrible game going 2 of 12 from the floor, he finished with 11 points mostly due to his trips to the foul line. Utah is now at .500 for the season, I don’t know that it’s going to get any better for the Jazz. What I do know is that theses players haven’t given up on their coach or their organization, they’ve continued to play extremely hard which continues to impress me. Utah’s next game is Thursday at home against the New Orleans Hornets, another match-up with an “elite” point guard. I hope Devin Harris gets back soon, maybe the Jazz can get back on the right side of things with a win against the Hornets.
