With a side of fresh juice, whiz and exuberance the crackerjack is back – Hello Rondo!
It might not be that exciting for the rest of the NBA teams to see Rondo rockin’ out on the floor, but for those of us that have been yearning for one of the leagues spunkiest competitors to come back and tear it up; it is so good to see the boundless Rondo from earlier this season, back in action!
We should ask the Spurs how they felt after last week’s game being on the receiving end of Rondo’s jabs all night. He took them apart with his truthful performance – 22 points, 14 assists, 5 rebounds and 0 turnovers. On a night that Tim Duncan is returning from injury absence, Duncan’s game was tight, however, the return of Rondo stole the show.
After watching the Boston Celtics (107) and San Antonio Spurs (97) match up game, the question looms of who has the better chance to win it all this year?
For the Celtics, we know it boils down to the fact that when Rondo is at his best, the entire vibe of the Celtics team is better. When there is quality efforts from Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Baby Davis and Rajon Rondo is on point – the game looks effortless leading them to victory. Before handing the Spurs their 5th straight loss, the Celtics were looking a little shaky. There was something off. Whether it was the team’s chemistry, a mix of injuries or the transition of new faces into the team – the whole team needed a firecracker to be litten up their tushes and they needed to get the ball rolling, literally.
Rondo was explosive at the beginning of the season but with nagging injuries and the absense of his buddy Perkins – he went through a five game stretch in Mid March when he couldn’t reach double figures in points or assists. He was getting sloppy out there – mentally he wasn’t in the game. Now, you have him hitting three double digit assist games in his last ten, each game seems to be a friendly reminder of just how dangerous he can be when he’s playing at the top of his game. ALL I see is FIREWORKS….!!!! In a nut shell, RONDO IS BACK and he’s got his coaching staff more than a little excited. Rondo performed so well that Rivers, the Doc himself, called it “COACH’S PORN.” Ahem. Now – I cant tell you what type of “performance” is occuring in the locker room – but um, yeah…the missing ingredient, AKA RAJON, is back on the menu…!
