WADE PLAYS; MIAMI WINS; SHOWDOWN SET

Dwyane Wade didn’t score 40 or 50 points.  He didn’t have to.  His presence and energy on the court was enough.  On Friday night the Miami Heat looked like a different team as they beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 112-103.  Just two days earlier, they lost, at home, to the Milwaukee Bucks.  Wade was the difference on this night.  D3 didn’t play against the Bucks, but he played on Friday and came out very aggressive against Charlotte.  Dwyane made 16 trips to the free throw line, converting 15 of those attempts.  He and Chris Bosh both scored 27 for the game and the Heat put themselves into a tie with Boston for the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference.  Those two teams play on Sunday afternoon.

I believe that if Miami wants to win the East and make it to the NBA Finals, they must beat the Celtics on Sunday.  The Heat would like the #2 seed, but they can win it all out of the #3 spot.  The reason they need to beat Boston is simple.  They haven’t beaten them yet, Kendrick Perkins isn’t there anymore, and no matter how good this Miami team is, if they can’t win against the Celtics while in South Florida, their confidence will be suspect throughout the playoffs.  This is as close to a regular season must-win as the Heat will face for a long time.  Miami has seemed to thrive with Wade at the controls and I expect to see more of the same on Sunday.  If DWade can continue his stellar play, LeBron keeps being Bron, and the bench keeps improving, there is no reason that this Heat team can’t host another parade down Biscayne Blvd.
