Top Dog Bombers Visit 2nd Place Jays

Who’s an underdog now? After taking two of three hard-fought games from the Rangers in the Bronx, the Yankees sit atop the AL East with a 9-5 record, 3.0 games ahead of the Blue Jays, their hosts Tuesday and Wednesday.
For those in Red Sox Nation not keeping track, Boston improved to 5-10 (still good enough for last place) on Monday afternoon with a trouncing of Toronto.
Eric Chavez played third in place of an ailing A-Rod on Sunday and was the difference maker in the game. The former Athletic still has some of his A(‘s) game left in him! On the downside, Joba came in and blew yet another win for poor CC. Life’s tough for Sabathia these days.
One person not having problems notching wins is AJ Burnett (3-0, 4.67) who takes the mound in the opener in Toronto against Kyle Drabek (1-0, 1.93).
On Wednesday Bartolo Colon (0-1, 3.97) makes his first start since July 24, 2009 in place of Phil Hughes and his “dead arm.” This is a make-or-break shot at the rotation for Colon. Lefty Brett Cecil (1-1, 6.19) will oppose him.
The Jays are on a 3-game losing streak, courtesy of Boston. It doesn’t look like it will get much better against a Yankee lineup that hits them will.
