Who’s got NBA playoff fever…?

Usually people are singing “I can’t wait for the weekend to begin…” so they can get out, let loose and have some fun. This weekend – majority of those people couldn’t wait for the weekend to begin so they can glue themselves to a couch and television to ensure they tune into the much anticipated NBA playoffs.

Everyone stirs up these pre game predictions alongside personal conspiracies about who should win and how they are going to win. Let’s get serious people; your predictions are meaningless during NBA Playoffs. Dissecting the action in the Eastern and Western conference regular season, doesn’t necessarily mean all your ducks are lined up in a row accurately. Yeah, yeah…ducks are quacking in the East and the West but at the end of the day, every team is equally hungry and like K.G said “anything’s possible.”

There is a lot of playoff buzz circulating in the air but we can’t ignore the fact that the buzz all seems to start with the question of… “Can the Lakers complete a three-peat?” The question I ask in response is…between the Spurs, Heat, Mavericks, Celtics and Magic – Can ONE of you, PLEASE stop them?! If Kobe wins again, his head won’t be able to fit into the Staples Centre.

With 8 playoff series and 16 hot teams, the players all have their shoelaces tied extremely tight and the coaches have hung up their Hugo Boss suits and stepped it up to straight Gucci…I mean really? …Who doesn’t love NBA playoffs?

Game 1 of a best of 7, hardly reflects the end result of a series; however, I do want to point out the fact that Kobe and his crew lost Game 1…I’m just saying! To think the Lakers were planning on getting all this rest…meanwhile the Hornets had alternative motives. The Hornets stung the Lakers and marked their territory and did it ever hurt! Same goes for the Spurs; it’s just they got mauled by another species, also known as the Hang Time Grizzlies. The basketball Gods finally answered to the Grizzlies and forced out the playoff demon that has steadfast the team since its inauguration.

On a lighter note, The Celtics and Thunder survived Game 1 anxiety, both of them winning thrillers on their home floors. Sunday’s matchups fondled the audience a little more with tighter games that were much closer and seemed more bloodthirsty on the grand scale. Game 1 of a series is such a tease! The competition this year is more provocative than we could have imagined. I guess that’s what NBA playoffs are all about…turning the audience on with the “survival of the fittest” in each series leading to the finals.

The higher seeds seem to think they are going to blow past the lower seeds, when in reality; the lower seeds are unwilling to concede and are going to take them for a long ride. Normally, it is the 4 – 5 matchups that are most intriguing, simply because they are the most closely coupled teams. However, after witnessing the top two teams in the Wild, Wild West get the ball handed to them in Game 1, it makes us think twice. The energy of the teams should be focused on survival to advance, because once that continued stamina disappears…its game over!
