The American league west has a new leader, The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels had their Halos handed to them in game one, but in games 2 and 3, the Angels slapped around last seasons American League Champions.
On Tuesday, the Halos had their highest scoring output of the season, 15 runs. It was a weird night for the offense, as the top 4 hitters went 2-17, while the bottom 5 went 13 for 21. Peter Bourjos was a man possessed, getting 4 hits, including a home run and a triple. His double was turned in to a home run by left fielder David Murphy, who let the ball get past him and roll to the wall. Bourjos was a blur, running the bases as fast as I have ever a player run. Plus, every night he tracks down balls in center that most players would have no chance of touching.
Mark Trumbo is still making his presence felt. The fill-in first base man had 3 hits, including another home run and 4 RBI. Add in Hank Congers 3 hits, and you’ve gotta believe in the Angels youth movement.
The Angels beat up 4 Ranger pitchers. What I really liked was Michael Kirkmans look after Murphys error. If expressions are worth A 1000 words, than I think Kirkman wanted to kill Murphy.
the rejuvenation of Vernon Wells continues. Wells picked up another 2 hits, and is now hitting .186. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but the Angels are gonna need him and Torii Hunter if they want to get back to the playoffs. The young guys are great, but you can’t expect them to stay hot all season.
I ripped Matt Palmer the other day. Saying he isn’t that good, and basically not to expect much. As usual, I was wrong. If I would have said he is awesome and expect him to shut down the Rangers, he would have been gone by 2 innings. i’m still not sold that Palmer is the gonna last long with the Halos. He is better than Scott Kazmir, so hopefully he will continue to pitch well.
Angels pen gave up 3 runs tonight. No big deal as the game was way out of reach when Texas scored. Angels won game 2, 15-4.
Wednesday’s game belonged to one guy, Jered Weaver. Please Angels, get him signed! Weaver pitched in and out of Jams on his way to a complete game, 6 hitter. He also had 8 strike outs. Angels beat the Rangers 4-1 to claim 1st place in the AL West. Weaver is now 5-0.
I hope Weaver did something for Bourjos, who went over the wall taking a home run away from David Murphy. Bourjos also added a triple, as it appears that he is learning to use his speed to the detriment of other teams.
Welcome back, Vernon Wells. The Halos left fielder took former Angel Darren O’Day deep. That made me feel good two ways. 1st: Wells is heating up. 2nd: O’Day seems to have the Angels number. Dude, get over it, the Halas were forced to let you go.
Howard or Howie Kendrick, who knows, hit a home run as well. The 2nd baseman is becoming very adept in the second hole. Who knew that would be the place where he have his most success.
The Angels were actually outhit, 6-5 by the Rangers, but it was the Angels that took 2 of 3. It’s a big opening statement by the Halos, who start a 4 game series tomorrow against the Red Sox. One statement made, another on to go.

O'kay I'll talk about myself a little. I've been working in the television/radio industry for over 21 years. I started at 2 so I am just a tad over 21 (That is a joke). My career has taken me around and and even out of the United States. Right now I call Vegas home, but I just never know where life will take me next. Until 2002 my irrational love for the California/Anaheim/LAA had taken me down some very dark roads, but with Arte Moreno in charge I finally saw the a light at the end of the road. I really love most every sports and having as much fun as possible.
