Daniel Hudson (0-4) struggled in his fourth start of the season. The right-hander threw 37 pitches in the first inning while facing nine Reds hitters leading to a 4-0 deficit.
Hudson walked Jay Bruce and Paul Janish with the bases loaded and surrendered a two-run single to Miguel Cairo. 2010 NL MVP Joey Votto hit his third home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Mike Leake (3-0) fresh off his $59 “shop-lifting” spree pitched 7IP/ 4H/ 3ER helping the Reds salvage the final game of the series.
Kelly Johnson and Stephen Drew each hit a home run in the loss.
The Diamondbacks begin a three game series against the New York Mets on Friday. Joe Saunders is scheduled to make his fourth start of the season.
Final Score: Reds win 7-4
Ian Kennedy (2-1) was the difference in the Diamondbacks’ 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday. The right-hander pitched 5 1/3IP/ 4H/ 1ER/ 2BB/ 3K despite getting struck on the ankle by a groundball in the fifth inning.
Justin Upton hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning to open the scoring. Ian Kennedy drove in Stephen Drew in the second inning with an RBI ground out.

The ball was flying out of Great American Ball Park during the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. The Diamondbacks smacked four home runs against RHP Sam LeCure (0-1) accounting for all of their offense in a 5-4 win.
Armando Galarraga (3-0) pitched effectively in 6IP/ 4H/ 3ER/ 2BB/ 6K to open the six game road-trip. The right-hander has won all three of his starts this season for Arizona.
Ryan Roberts continued his impressive start (.366 AVG) to the season by launching two home runs in replace of injured Melvin Mora. Roberts’ versatility has enabled Manager Kirk Gibson to utilize him around the diamond.
Kelly Johnson and Chris Young added solo home runs in the victory.
Esmerling Vasquez and David Hernandez continue to pitch effectively combining for two scoreless innings out of the pen. J.J. Putz recorded his fourth save of the season after retiring the side in order in the ninth inning.
Final Score: Diamondbacks win 5-4
