The Washington Redskins traded down their 10th pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars when QB Blaine Gabbert was not picked, prompting everyone to assume a QB was not what the Skins were looking for or that Gabbert wasn’t their pick or that McNabb is their guy? Instead the Redskins picked up DE Ryan Kerrigan of Purdue, an elite pass rusher.
This will be a great fit for the Skins to pair opposite of their other great pick from 2009 and Pro Bowler Brian Orakpo, whom are now being called “Kerackpo.” Kerrigan posted 12.5 sacks last year and 33.5 in total and is the reigning Big 10 Player of the Year.
The Skins next picks are as follows:
Round 2, Pick 9 (41), Round 2, Pick 17 (49) (From Jaguars), Round 5, Pick 13 (144), Round 5, Pick 24 (155) (From New Orleans), Round 6, Pick 12 (177), Round 7, Pick 10 (213), Round 7, Pick 21 (224) (From Indianapolis), Round 7, Pick 50 (253) (Compensatory Selection)
About the Author
Written by Mercedes Green
I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s). My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher. Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
