Hawks take Game one

Many people, myself included, wasn’t sure what the Hawks would do without Kirk Hinrich. The guard went down with only a few minutes left in the Game six victory over Orlando. Okay, here is the answer. Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford would have to play out of their minds. And they did. Joe Johnson scored 34 and Jamal continued his great play off the bench, adding in twenty, and Atlanta won the first game of this series, 103-95. Now, I’m listening to the TNT announcer going apopletic as Derrick Rose turns his ankle again after steping on the back of Jamal Crawford. This is someting that will have to be monitored. As I mentioned at the outset, Hinrich’s subtraction made an already thin part of Atlanta’s line-up thinner, and Johnson and Crawford made up the slack. If Jamal isn’t voted Sixth Man of the Year again, then something is wrong. Rose hurt his ankle in the Indiana series. I expect him to grit it out. Also, this win snapped a 15-game Hawk losing streak in the second round. A lot of sweeps have been avenged. This game was pretty close entering in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks pulled away. I didn’t think it possible given the way they limped into this series, but they do seem to have a toughness that can get them through these situations. They have the home court, and we will see if it is the second coming of the Magic series.
