The Miami Heat have advanced past the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Closing the series out by winning Game 5 97-87 in Miami.
The Miami Heat got huge play again from their superstars Dwayne Wade and Lebron James. Wade scoring 34 pts, and adding 10 rebounds and Lebron adding 33 pts, and 7 rebounds. Chris Bosh had a solid game adding 14 pts, and 11 rebounds.
No points were bigger than the 3 that Lebron hit with 2:10 left in the 4th quarter, putting the Heat up 90-87. After Jeff Green missed a layup for the Celtics and a series of bad plays by both teams Lebron came down the court and again hit another huge 3 with :40 seconds remaining. That shot put the dagger through the Celtics heart, and would come to be the end of their season.
The Miami Heat’s stingy defense caused the Celtics to commit 17 turnovers, and only allow 2 Celtics players to score over 15 pts. The key part to the Heat holding back the Celtics offense was containing Rajon Rondo. Rondo hasn’t been near as effective since dislocating his left elbow, but that’s not to say he still isn’t a threat with his passing.
The Heat did an excellent job containing Rondo and the rest of the Celtics Big 3, and causing turnovers. Once they cause turnovers, that’s when they are at their best and most dangerous. Running the fast break and getting huge dunks is what makes this team go, and that’s exactly what they did.
The entire series was a battle, and nobody said it better than Lebron James after the game: “They make you fight for everything,” James said. “You can never take the foot off the gas. You can never take a second off against that team.” The Celtics just aren’t young enough to keep up with theyoung and fast paced Heat.
With the Heat prevailing they look to be the favorites to make it to the Championship this year until someone can prove to anyone how they will slow down Lebron and D-Wade. The Heat are a young, fast, defensively fiesty, and hungry team that don’t look like they can be stopped right now. They are playing their best basketball of the year, and at the right time.
Next stop for them will be the Easter Conference Finals. The Miami Heat could possiblybe waiting to face MVP Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls, who have defeated the Heat in every game during the regular season going 3-0.
That could be one of the best series yet…but we’ll have to wait and see if the Bulls can finish off the Atlanta Hawks.
