Back-to-Back Homers Gives Arizona Series Win

The Diamondbacks got their bats going early Sunday to beat the Dodgers 4-1. The win gives Arizona the series win, the first in Dodgertown since 2007, and a winning streak to take home with them.
Xavier Nady hit a 2 run home run to take the early lead. Ryan Roberts returning to the lineup followed immediately with another home run to get the Arizona bats started early. Miguel Montero later scored in the inning off a Chris Young sacrifice to give Arizona a 4-0 lead by the end of the second inning.
Arizona ace Ian Kennedy posted another quality start tossing six innings with 8 strikeouts and allowing only 1 run off of 4 hits. The win moves Kennedy to 4-1 and lowering his ERA to 3.05.
The Dodgers only run came in the third inning off an Aaron Miles RBI. The Dodgers threatened again in the ninth inning with a double and a walk. However, with two men on Arizona closer J.J. Putz was able to shut the door to record his ninth save of the season.
Ian Kennedy has been stellar this season since his complete game shut out against the Phillies on April 25 posting an ERA of 1.50. If the Diamondbacks can carry this momentum of good pitching from top to bottom they will remain competitive in the NL West. To this point in May the Diamondbacks bullpen has only allowed one run in relief through 36 innings. This must continue in order for the Diamondbacks to rally back from 5 games back in a very competitive NL West.
The win gives Arizona (17-22) a 2 game win streak as they head back to the desert to host the San Diego Padres (17-23) on Monday.
