Pence’s game winner was exciting, the loss Tuesday sucked and Towles’s walk off was beautiful but the fact that they won a series at home by playing good, hard baseball is whats important.
Tomorrow the Diamondbacks come to town for a three game set. A team with good pitching but a weak bullpen. Their offense has some pop but is stale at times. The Astros should be feeling good and ready to keep winning. Maybe not every game but the series is there for the taking.
With Keppinger coming back his bat will be nice to have but it’s going to come at the expense of Sanchez or Hall until one of these guys are moved.
My opinion, it’s between Keppinger and Hall. Sanchezs’ glove is better than both of them and his at-bats are getting better and better. Plus he’s younger with more improvement to come. Hall took a while to get his first hit of the season and since hasn’t done a whole lot. We’ll have to see how Kepp plays the next few weeks to see if he’s the piece to move.
I would much rather have young potential than old underachieving bats.
Mr. Crane……..Jim, please don’t trade the wrong guys. Don’t make me upset, please.
Back to the D’backs, Upton, Young, Johnson, Drew and Roberts are the dangerous bats in their lineup but don’t sleep on Montero, not because he’s on my fantasy team but because he’s considered by some as the best all-around hitter on their team. There’s power here but not consistent power. As long the Astros avoid the big inning and keep the ball in the park they should have a chance to win every game. Pitching wise, the D’backs will send Daniel Hudson to the mound Friday. He’ll be the toughest pitcher the Astros will see, if they touch him up then they’ll be good to go for the rest of the weekend. Time to get rollin boys.
