Angels suffer huge loss, might strike it big.

Howard Kendrick is out, so the Angels reached for a well-travelled veteran when they signed Russell Branyan. I have mixed feelings about this move. Branyan is truly a hit miss type of guy. He has 190 career home runs, but he has nearly 2000 strike outs, as well. He has averaged about 220 at bats over his 14 year career, but he has stuck out an average of 78 times a year. I guess, he’ll come up and excite the crowd with some mammoth shots, but most of the time he’ll be headed back to the pine with his bat in hand. That is not saying that I pan the move, but……..I’ll just wait and see.
The Angels are Branyan’s 10 team, and he has played in every division except the AL Central. If it makes you feel any better, Branyan best season was with Seattle just 2 years ago, so he must remember the AL West pitchers.. That was the year I interviewed him. Not the most exciting, but a huge man.
After 158 games last year, Kendrick is back on the DL. You gotta hope he comes back soon, because he was having a special season. He was hitting .322 with 7 home runs, and 18 runs batted in. Kendrick’s career high is 10 home runs. He still may break that, it just depends on when he returns. I should add that he was also playing stellar defense, at 2nd, 1st and left field.. He’ll be missed in the Halos lineup.
